New meeting-place will sprout sustainable solutions

A new initiative creates an innovation meeting point for food producers and their suppliers. The name is Food Processing for the Future and here, solutions to the industry’s challenges will be presented.

“The food industry’s global challenges concerning for instance a need for greener and smarter solutions are both challenges but also opportunities – opportunities that we as an industry have to make use of. Collaboration between food producers and suppliers of food technology, ingredients, software, and raw materials is necessary to secure a continuous innovation and development of competitive solutions in the industry, on a global level, ” says Niels Osterland, president of the Danish Society of Dairy Technology, who together with Danish Food Cluster and Danish Export Association – Food Tech/Fish Tech have started a new collaboration across the food industry.

Together, they have created a new conference, which gathers food suppliers and producers with the goal of inspiring each other and finding solutions for the industry’s challenges. Clever machines, green packaging, proteins, and waste that creates value – these are the subjects which the solutions can be placed within.

The conference makes up new contact surfaces, which is a great starting point for new thinking, according to Chairman at Danish Food Cluster and Vice President at Chr. Hansen, Esben Laulund:

“The basis for new innovation often occurs in the contact surfaces between two areas. And we see a great potential in the space between supplier and producer within the food industry, which can be used more efficiently”. 

Sustainable packaging, smart cleaning, intelligent process machinery, from waste to value, and alternative proteins. Those are the topics that set the scene for the conference.

The conference has a significant setup as it places the food producers in front of the suppliers, who will present their specific solutions. After each presentation there will be an open session where food producers have the opportunity to ask questions. Moreover, there will be sessions where the suppliers are available for 1-on-1 talks with the producers at their stands.

There are all together 21 solutions, which will be presented on 16 January by some of the leading suppliers in the industry.

Besides the presentations, there will be a keynote session presented by Klaus Grunert, professor and Centre Director at MAPP Centre – Research on Value Creation in the Food Sector for Consumers, Industry and Society
